Custodial death case: PM conducted, body not claimed

Imphal, April 15 2025:
The post-mortem examination on the mortal remains of Khoisnam Sanajaoba Singh, who was arrested by Imphal East district commando but died at JNIMS casualty block, allegedly died due to negligence by Sajiwa jail authorities, was conducted on Tuesday at JNIMS morgue.
However, family of the deceased refused to claim the body, demanding that justice be delivered first.
Speaking in this regard, JAC against the custodial death of Khoisnam Sanajaoba alias Ibungo convenor L Kumari informed that a sit-in protest staged at Khurai Nirigthoubung Leikai community hall on Monday adopted various resolutions including demand for justice and to penalise those responsible for the custodial death of arrested person.
She further stated that post-mortem examination was conducted at JNIMS morgue with video coverage and in the presence of JAC members.
However, the body of Sanajaoba will not be claimed until justice is delivered, affirmed the convenor, while cautioning of launching intense protest if their demands are not honoured at the earliest.
