Over 900 CRPF troopers join search in Langol forests

Imphal, April 15 2025:
In a major coordinated joint operation, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) under M&N Sector Imphal, in collaboration with Manipur Police, Assam Rifles and Border Security Force (BSF), carried out a special operation targeting forested areas of Langol, falling under the jurisdictions of Lamsang, Lamphel and Sekmai police stations.
According to M&N CRPF PRO, the operation was conducted based on intelligence about arms, ammunition and explosives hidden during the ethnic unrest that erupted in 2023.The operation saw the deployment of over 1,000 security personnel with the CRPF alone mobilising 921 personnel, from various sectors/ranges, battalions and companies.

others from Manipur police led by the additional SP (Operations) was divided into 10 operational sectors for a comprehensive and systematic search of the forested area.
Specialist units including bomb disposal squads, dog squads, medical teams, surveillance units equipped with UAVs, and RAF contingents were positioned at strategic locations to manage any operational or public order challenges that might arise, the PRO elaborated in a release.
The operation resulted in the domination of the targeted area, identification of likely hideouts, mapping of foot tracks connecting nearby community settlements, and the discovery of potential escape routes used by miscreants.
Similar joint operations will continue across both valley and hill areas in the coming days, as part of a broader mission to recover looted arms and restore lasting peace and stability in the state, added the PRO .
