Embroidery training for IDPs begin

Bishnupur, April 15 2025:
A six-month training programme on traditional hand embroidery for internally displaced persons (IDPs) under Phase 4 of the Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) commenced On Monday at the Old Mini Secretariat in Bishnupur.
The training programme is jointly organised by Single Point of Contact (SPOC), Oinam and North East Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation (NEHHDC), Guwahati.
The inaugural function of the training programme, being participated by 45 IDPs, was attended by Bishnupur MLA Govindas Konthoujam and assistant commissioner to Bishnupur DC T Opendro as the chief guest and president respectively, while social worker Dr Thingbaijam Swarankumar and Oinam Ibohal Polytechnic, Imphal principal Nilababu Oinam and Relief Camp Level Committee member secretary M Bilkee were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Govindas noted talents of Manipuris in diverse fields, and called upon the people to hone their skills for a better lifestyle.
He also pointed out the need to protect and preserve the cultural heritage passed down by the ancestors, reminding that Manipur is widely recognised for its rich culture and tradition, and excellence in sports.
Delivering the presidential speech, T Opendro urged the participants to take part in the training programme wholeheartedly, for successful completion of the six-month course, would make them eligible to avail loans from banks to support their livelihood and entrepreneurial ventures.
