Imphal, July 09 2013: While clarifying that KCP-MC (Lallumba group)'s president Lallumba alias Hitendra has not fled but is staying in a hospital following an accident, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Gaikhangam asserted that the demand for separate Kuki State as pursued by Kuki UG groups violates the preamble of SoO ground rules.

Addressing media persons at his office today, Gaikhangam clarified that Lallumba is currently at RIMS undergoing treatment following an accident.

Relevant officials have been instructed to keep Lallumba under enhanced security vigil.

Cadres of the outfit currently housed at 7th MR Khabeisoi complex have opened their bank accounts and certain amounts have been deposited in their fixed accounts at the bankj.

With their fixed deposits serving as surety, they were given loans for self-employment by bank .

All the cadres appended their signatures when the loan amount was encashed.

As the collective loan amount was huge and in view of congestion in the bank, the loan amount was handed to some leaders of the group including Lallumba.

The loan amount was later distributed to cadres even though some cadres were left out.

Lallumba also wrote to the joint monitoring group saying that the left out cadres would be given their due loan amounts before August 6 .

Officials concerned have been directed to ask Lallumba to hand over the undistributed loan amounts to the JMG, Gaikhangam stated.

Stating that the ongoing bandh of the Kuki State Demand Committee urging for political dialogue between Kuki UG groups under SoO pact and the Government would mean much trouble to public, the Deputy Chief Minister appealed to call off the ongoing agitation.

In case the tolerance limit of the mass is stretched to the limit, the Government would not remain silent but act according to law, Gaikhangam cautioned.

Observing that the particular demand would not be correspond to the territorial integrity of Manipur, the Deputy Chief Minister pointed out that to maintain status quo of the territory of Manipur was one of the foremost points written in the SoO agreement.

The same demand violates the preamble of SoO ground rules.

To fragment a tiny State like Manipur is not feasible at all.

It is advisable for the Kukis, Nagas and Meiteis alike to work for integrity among all communities of Manipur and every actor should know what is written in SoO ground rules, Gaikhangam asserted.

Stating that the State Government has been exerting strong pressure on Centre to start political dialogue with the SoO groups, the Deputy Chief Minister appealed to all groups not to impose any bandh or blockade.

Claiming that matured youngsters are no longer drawn to UG groups, he stated that police have been alerted on the alleged efforts of UG groups to recruit underaged children.

He further asked school authorities as well as parents to be wary of such efforts.
