Villagers complain CM on reign of terror by UG cadres under SoO

Cadres of UKLF, a signatory of the SoO, have been alleged of unleashing a "reign of terror" in Sugnu area in a joint memorandum submitted to the CM today.
Chiefs of five villages, Vangkho, V Haipijang, YT Phai, K Pheisabi and LT Phai submitted the joint memorandum recalling alleged atrocities meted out by the armed cadres of the outfit in the villages during April 1 to 3.They alleged that around five well-armed cadres of the outfit in full uniform led by its Sugnu town area commander Mangkhopao Haokip @ Samuel Haokip entered Y Thingkangphai village on the night of April 1 around 10 pm and broke doors of at least four houses in the village.
The houses belonged to Tangmang, Ngamkhojam, Jamkhoson and Thangthong.
The cadres also snatched away three mobile handsets from Lhunminlal Touthang, Chungkhopao Haokip, and Seikholun Haokip.
They summoned Songkhomang, Jamson, Tongmang, Thangthong and Ngamkhojam to M Munpi village chief's house the next day and forced them sign an 'agreement' .
The same kind of atrocities were committed on the night of April 2 on the villages of K Sabi of Sugnu area.
They banged the door of Jingam Baite, the chief and searched for Rev Holkholet Baite who was out of station.
The cadres threatened the Rev's wife with guns.
The town commander also snatched a mobile phone with ' 500 cash from some women and abused them by calling them "prostitutes", the villagers alleged.
Furious over the atrocities, around 30 villagers went to the house of Khupmang Haokip @ H Mangboi Thadou, S/S public relation superintendent of the outfit as well as to the chief of Lonpi Khunou to lodge a complaint.
They were prevented from meeting the public relation superintendent, they said.
The villagers of the area through their village chiefs lodged a complaint with the CM Thursday, drawing his attention to the grievances of the victimized villagers and to book the cadres involved.
The chiefs reminded that they have suffered a lot at the hands of the UKLF cadres stating that they have unleashed a reign of terror though they are supposed to be encamped in their designated camp at Sinai of Khongbarol village under Khengjoy block of Chandel district.
Such unlawful activities have rendered loss of property, physical and mental harassment of innocent civilians.
They also demanded a police outpost at Y Thingkangphai village.
