Oppn lambasts SoO groups

Amidst reports that some people have started interpreting Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact as 'licence to kill', 'licence to harass' and 'licence to loot', Opposition Member Kh Joykisan today sought attention of the Government toward merciless thrashing of five people by KNA/KNO cadres at Molnoi, Kangpokpi district .
Joykisan informed the House today that the five victims have been identified as Lalouliyan Doungel, Kakam Lhouvum, Dinsei Lhouvum, Seiben Lhouvum and Chochon Lhouvum .
It was only a few days back that Chief Minister N Biren talked about even withdrawing from SoO pact if the SoO groups continue to violate ground rules .
Pointing out that SoO groups have been terrorising the people, Joykisan urged the Government to take up necessary actions to check such unlawful activities .
MLA TT Haokip said that two people were electrocuted in a village within Henglep AC on June 13 .
Okam Haokip of Tuilaphai village and Thangminlen Haokip of Lanjang village were electrocuted as they were restoring a snapped power line.
Two others also sustained critical injuries .
Later it was agreed to give ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each and a job to the next of kins of the deceased under die-in-harness scheme.
It was also agreed to give Grade IV jobs to the two injured victims but they are not in a position to work as Government employees, TT Haokip informed the House .
He then urged the Government to give Grade IV jobs as assured by the Government to the next of kin of the injured victims .
MLA M Subhashchandra sought attention of the Government during zero hour to look into the inconveniences faced by people of Malom after their crematorium was taken over by IOC in the process of land acquisition for construction of oil depot .
MLA Ushab Uddin too sought attention of the Government for construction of an Inter-State Truck Terminus at Jiribam for trucks plying along Imphal-Jiribam highway.
