Imphal, July 31:
A delegation of the CLAHRO (Civil Liberties and Human Rights Organisation) led by its president AC Sharma called on Governor Gurubachan Singh Jagat today and submitted two memoranda, informed a CLAHRO release.
While the first memorandum highlighted UG surrenderees' grievances arising out of non recruitment to Government service , irregularities in payment of monthly stipend and non-payment of cash reward for surrender with weapons etc, the second highlighted serious problems arising out of insurgency and counter insurgency excesses in Manipur.

It also appealed to the Governor to advise both the Govts at the Centre and in the State to take appropriate confidence building measures soliciting militants to come forward for political dialogue.
During the meeting today, the delegates apprised the Governor of the harrowing experiences of human rights violation and miseries of the people as a result of insurgency movement and counter insurgency excesses of the Government.
They also appealed to the Governor to advise the Centre and State to refrain from strong arm tactics to contain insurgency but to come out with appropriate confidence building measures so as to facilitate political dialogue, added the release.
