ESI Scheme extended in Manipur

Imphal, July 23 2024: Union Ministry of Labour & Employment vide gazette notification No 2560 dated July 10 has extended the ESI Scheme in all the areas of Bishnupur, Senapati, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Thoubal districts with effect from August 1 .

As per a release by Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC); all factories, establishments such as shops, hotels, restaurants, road motor transport establishments, cinema including preview theatres, newspaper establishments', educational institutions (including public, private, aided or partially aided run by individuals, trustees, societies or other organisation), medical institutions (including corporate, joint sector, trust, charitable and private ownership hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres, pathological labs), municipal bodies including municipal corporation, municipal councils, nagar palika and other urban local bodies run by state government, etc., employing 10 or more persons should register their unit.

Registration can be done online on the website www.esic.in (for labour supply agencies/contractors, security agencies) and on the 'Shram Suvidha Portal' registration.shramsuvidha.gov.in (for shops, establishments, educational institutions), so that eligible employees can avail the benefits provided in the ESI Act, 1948, it informed.
