RLU celebrates 25 years of Christian fellowship

Ukhrul, November 14 2021: Ringui Long, Ukhrul (RLU) on Saturday celebrated its silver jubilee by dedicating its newly-constructed Fellowship House here at Hamleikhong B-II in Ukhrul town.

Held under the theme 'His Faithfulness"; the celebration marked the 25th year of RLU's existence, which started as a small welfare organisation way back in 1996.The celebration began with dedication ceremony of the Fer-lowship House administered by Ringui Baptist Church '(RBC) Pastor Rev Solem A Shimray.

He cut the inaugural ribbon and unveiled the monolith in the presence of RLU chairman Angam A Shimray, RLU's first chairman Dickson Ngalung Zimik, chaplain NK Maiyo, Talui Baptist Church (TBC) pastor Rev Mingyao Zimik, Ringui Long Imphal (RLI) chairman MK Ningnim, Viewland Baptist Church (VBC) pastor Rev Mayonsing Ngalung and others.

Rev Solem A Shimray invoked the Almighty's blessing upon the new worship building to be instrumental in His service and in spiritual growth of the fellowship members.

The pastor also congratulated RLU on reaching the milestone of five years of service and accomplishing its long-anticipated wish of building its own fellowship house.

Bringing Gospel message of the event.

Rev Mingyao Zimik spoke on the theme of God's faithfulness to His people.

"God remains unchanged; He is ever faithful.

If we feel that things don't go according to our plan and wish, let's remember that is His way of giving us lessons to learn and make amends," he said.

He then called upon believers to have firm faith and commitment in the Lord, saying "Be strong and courageous.

Be firm in your faith so that you will know His faithfulness" .

Rev Zimik went on to urge the RLU Fellowship to be a living and a leading fellowship.

"If you don't serve God, you are nothing but naught," he said, stressing on the need to serve the will of God.

Giving a welcome address, Angam A Shimray said that the concurrence of the silver jubilee celebration and dedication of the new worship building was a fulfilment of God's wish for RLU.

"We thank God for getting us through the arduous task despite our shortcomings," he said attributing the achievement to the Almighty's grace.

In his speech, Dickson Ngalung Zimik recalled that RLU has come a long way since its formation with just seven households back in 1996 .

He said that the idea of forming a welfare body took shape after some elders deliberated on the need forpromoting welfare for Ringui natives in Ukhrul town.

Speaking on the occasion, MK Ningnim and Rev Ngalung also exhorted the Ringui natives in Ukhrul town to keep up a good name for their village.

RBC deacons, Ringui Village Authority members and representatives of Christian Youth Society (CYS), RBC Women Society and RLU members attended the celebration.

The welfare body was instituted by Ringui natives who are residing in Ukhrul district headquarters.

Its objective is to build a community of interest, understanding, activity and upliftment of one another among the members.

Simultaneously, a Christian fellowship was developed under RLU with an aim to provide a common worship space for its members.
