Imphal, March 02 2025: Singjamei to Lilong Apunba Meira Paibi Lup general secretary Santibala Khaidem suggested that appeal of Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla for surrendering of illegal arms and ammunition to police station and security forces should be applicable in the hills as well.

Addressing a press meet at Koubru Hall of Manipur Press Club on Sunday, Santibala pointed to all concerned that village volunteers emerged due to failure of the central government and security forces to protect the people susceptible to attacks by Kuki militants since the conflict broke out on May 3, 2023 .

Stating that that the Meetei community would have been annihilated had the VVs not taken up arms and maintained vigil in the fringe villages, she asserted that the women would resort to intense agitations in case the government forces only launch crackdown on Ws in the valley districts while exercising leniency against those operating in the hills.
