Trees planted, solar lights distributed

Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation drive at Sehlon village as part of its ongoing effort to promote sustainability and green initiatives.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the tree plantation drive participated by the villagers and representatives from Assam Rifles featured diverse range of native tree-species totalling 286 saplings.
The participants including men, women and children of the village were engaged in hand-on activities including digging pits, planting saplings and nurturing young trees, symbolising their collective commitment to environmental stewardship, added the PRO.
Meanwhile, in line with the 'Har Ghar Solar Abhiyaan' scheme, Assam Rifles on April 27 distributed solar lights at Selshi and Gamphajol villages located near the Indo-Myanmar border in Churachandpur district.
The distribution of solar lights is a part of Assam Rifles' ongoing commitment to bolster and to actively engage in community development initiatives that positively impact the fives of people residing in remote areas, said the PRO in another release.
