Manipur issue should top Parliament discourse: Maheshwar

The special session of the Parliament which is slated to begin from September 18 should discuss the current Manipur issue as the first and foremost priority, exclaimed Republican Party of India (Athawale) national general secretary Maheshwar Thounaojam.
Speaking during a public meeting held in front of the office of Ajmer Collector in Rajasthan on Saturday which was attended by youth of Ajmer along with Meitei people living in the area, he noted that that all are aware of the truth behind the volatile situation gripping the state of Manipur.
It is very unfortunate for the entire country to remain silent when the people of Manipur, who bring laurels for the country In the field of sports and arts and culture, are suffering.
Therefore, the Parliament should consider the issue of Manipur as top priority during its special session which will begin from September 18 and take up specific measures to bring an end to the crisis and restore peace and normalcy in the state.
Maheshwar further informed the crowd that he has been highlighting the actual issues prevailing in Manipur not only in Delhi and Rajasthan but also in other states of India.
More efforts will be made to highlight the issues in the national media, he added.
Ajmer youth leader Bhagawat Singh, who also took part in the public meeting, said that the atrocities being committed on the Meitei community should be stopped.
The people of Rajasthan stands with the people of Manipur in the effort of ousting the Chin-Kuki narco terrorists from Manipur, he added.
The participants also shouted slogans like "Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists should leave India", "Stop committing atrocities towards the Meiteis", "We stand for the Meiteis" etc.
