Zeliangrong bodies announce 24-hr NH bandh

Imphal, August 14 2014 : The Zeliangrong organisations have announced today to impose 24 hours National Highways bandh from midnight of August 16 .

On the expiry of 48 hours dateline served to police department and failure on the part of the police department to arrest the accused Mr.Hingba Mathew, the warden of Josephine Girls Hostel, Maram who is the main accused in the murder attempt and physical assault case of Mr.Ringsanbou Newmai, a student of Don Bosco College, Maram on July 28, 2014, who suffered severe intestinal damage, liver and kidney damage, broken jaw, cuts marks caused by iron bar, head injury etc.

is now undergoing medical treatment in the ICU of JNIMS Hospital, Imphal the Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF), All Zeliangrong Students Union (AZSU) and Zeliangrong Students Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has declared and called 24 hours total bandh which will be effective from the midnight of August 16.The ZYF, AZSU and ZSUM appealed to all the right thinking people, organisations, interstate passenger services and transporters, different companies executing works under national projects such as Power Grid, Railways, BRTF to extend maximum cooperation and support towards the cause for getting justice.

Exemption is given for medical, fire services, electricity, educational institutions.

Defying the bandh shall bear own responsibilities for any untoward incident occurs.

"The Zeliangrong people being the law abiding citizen have been maintaining enough patience in this murder attempt and physical assault case for about half month hoping to get justice but the toleration limit has almost ran out especially when the police department whose duty is to enforce law and order shows its inability even to arrest culprit whose identity is already identified.

The ZYF, AZSU and ZSUM expressed regret for the inconvenience to be caused to the general public but because of the police department inability to arrest have compelled to call bandh to show people dissatisfaction and anger on such crime committed on innocent student and also to get justice," the three Zeliangrong organisations stated.

Public meetings and other democratic form of protests will be followed and demonstrated of which date will be announced later until justice is delivered to the victim, they added.
