Imphal, July 06 2015 :
Leipak Kanba Ahallup (LEIKALLUP) has pledged its support to the general strike called by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System saying that the bill which was passed in the previous Assembly Session was in the favour of non-locals.
State Assembly passed the bill knowing that it will not help much in safeguarding the indigenous communities of Manipur.
Recalling many incidents, LEIKALLUP said that State Govt.was forced to react somehow only when people came to know and voiced on the border fencing issue.
Similarly, Govt.reacted at last moment in the Dzkou valley issue after failing to respond to the people's demand for a long time.
Knowing the State Govt.'s weakness Nagaland took advantage and planned to take over Siroi hills and Siroi Lily, it added.
If the politicians of Manipur had the spirit of nationalism like great forefathers of Manipur who faced British, Manipuris would have received respect from each and every community of India since a long time, LEIKALLUP added.
