AR donates solar lights, water tanks

24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed Solar Street Lights in Lamlong, Leipham, RRC, New Waksu and Kwatha Khunou villages under Assam Rifles Military Civic Action Programme.
Commandant 24 Assam Rifles handed over the Solar Street Lights to the villagers in presence of the Pradhan and other prominent personalities of the village.
This mass outreach programme was aimed at tapping the solar energy to ease the power crisis in these villages as all these villages are severely affected by an irregular power supply.
5 water tanks having a capacity of 2000 litres were donated for Kwatha village and a 3000 litres water tank was donated to New Narum and Sita village each.
Commandant 24 Assam Rifles handed over the water tanks in the villages as a part of the Op Samaritan Programme.
There was no provision for water storage in the village due to which the villagers faced acute scarcity of water during summer season.
These water reservoirs for storage would be immensely beneficial and will not only solve a long standing water crisis but also will facilitate in storage of clean drinking water protected from water borne diseases during the monsoons.
