AJWJU observes foundation day

All Jiribam Working Journalists Union (AJWJU) observed its 15th foundation day on Wednesday at Raja Ramohan Roy Library Hall in Jiribam Teacher Colony, Babupara.
AJWJU advisor Th Sarat Kumar Singh and president Ng Biswajit Singh attended the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Giving the key note address, AJWJU general secretary M Romeo Singh said that people have failed to recognize the contributions of the media persons of Jiribam.
But the Jiribam media fraternity has been making every possible effort to disseminate information to the public at their best level, said M Romeo while urging civil society organisations in Jiribam to encourage journalists of the Imphal East sub-district.
Journalists Ng Biswajit Singh, M Romeo Singh, A Lukhoi Singh and Md Mahin Laskar were presented with simple gifts on the occasion to encourage them in their profession.
Asst Prof L Jaminikanta Singh said that a handful of media persons in Jiribam have been sacrificing for the people and expressed hope that they would do more in investigative journalism also.
He called for increasing the number of media persons including that of women journalists in the sub-division.
