Workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place commences

Strict action in accordance to law can be taken up against those people who passed lewd comments to woman at their work sites or public places as such act attributes to crime against women, said advocate N Ojit.
He was speaking as Resource Person during the inauguration of a two-day workshop on Sexual Harassment of Women at the Work Place' being organized by People Socio-Cultural Organization at Kyamgei Khoirom Leikai, Imphal East today.
Advocate Ojit further said that around 70 percent women aged between 15-40 years of the country are victims of domestic violence and informed that Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and the northeastern States are the States where cases of violence against women and sexual harassment at work places are reported in higher rate with a figure of 55 percent.
Maintaining that women victims of such act should approach legal authorities for taking up necessary action against offenders, he added that women should be aware of atmosphere and condition of their places as a safety measure.
The inaugural function was also attended by Dr S Muhindro, Veterinary Department; T Joykumar, Section Officer of Electricity Department and N Robindro, social worker as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honor respectively.
