Cycle campaign for environment flagged off

Kakching, April 28 2024:
A cycle tour of the valley region of Manipur undertaken by environment activist Manikanta Mutum, son of M Gonel of Karam Awang Leikai, Imphal West district, spreading the message of 'Let's plant and nurture trees' was flagged off from the Range Forest Office (RFO), at Kakching Lamkhai on Sunday morning.
The campaign jointly organised by RFO, under Thoubal Forest Division and Joint Co-ordinating Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB), Manipur with support of Indigenous People s Organisation Manipur (IPOM) and Lanchenba Lanchenbi Group, Chajing Mamang Leikai was flagged off by Kakching range forest officer Laishram Dinesh in the presence of Kakching police station OC T Rameshwar, IPOM vice president Chandramani Khumancha and JCCWB convener Romesh Ningthoujam, among others.
As part of the tour, Manikanta will spread the message of tree plantation at educational institutions and localities along with planting saplings provided by Forest Department.
It can be mentioned that Manikanta Mutum had earlier also toured the state as well as Assam and other states spreading the message of protection of environment and had planted saplings along with participating in various programmes connected to environmental conservation.
