Kuldiep meets Kpi CSO leaders, stresses on dialogue

Imphal, May 22 2023: Security advisor Kuld-iep Singh and chief secretary Vineet Joshi on Sunday met with leaders of civil society organisation (CSOs) of Kang-pokpi and held discussions on prevailing situation in the state along with the blockade enforced on NH 2 in Kang-pokpi area.

Briefing media persons at Chief Minister's Secretariat on Monday, Kuldiep informed that he along Vineet Joshi, Kangpokpi deputy commis-sioner and SP met leaders of 25 CSOs of Kangpokpi at 22 AR Camp, Kangpokpi from around 1:30 pm during which wide range of issues were dis-cussed He also appealed to them to make efforts to restore peace and normalcy and to resolve issues through dialogue.

Kuldiep continued that on the same day, IGP (Intelli-gence) Kabib K held a meeting in Churachandpur with five members of Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) in the presence of the Churachand-pur DC & SP, 106 RAF CO, SP Pherzawl and 1 IRB CO.

An appeal was made to the ITLF members for peaceful means to resolve the situa-tion.

The ITLF members also expressed readiness to meet him and place their concerns and demands for discussion, he added.

The security advisor also mentioned that normal situa-tion prevails in most districts.

2,501 FIRs have been regis-tered including Imphal West (826), Imphal East (243), Bishnupur (296), Kakching (39), Tengnoupal (346), Jirib-am (2), Churachandpur (56), Tengnoupal (11), Kangpokpi (687), Pherzawl (1), Tamen-glong (2) and Senapati (1), while 38 persons have been arrested in connection with the violence.

Number of deaths is 73 out of which 41 are con-firmed to be related with the present violence.

The number of injured reported is 246.The number of arson cases is 1,827, he conveyed.

Kuldiep also stated that out of the 1,070 arms snatched from security forces, 494 have been recovered.

More arms were recovered during the last few days and efforts are on to recover the remaining arms.

He further said that 159 loaded trucks including one diesel carrier, six LPG bullet tankers, 31 cement carriers, four FCI trucks and 117 other transport vehicles left liribam for Imphal on Monday morn-ing, while there are 105 loaded trucks stranded in Senapati.

He further assured that ad-ditional deployment of SFs has been made along NH - 37 to prevent unwanted incidents particularly in the Kotlen to Tupul stretch.

Kuldiep also said that an abandoned workshop at Ngangkha Lawai, Moirang was burned by some miscreants at about 12.45 pm on Monday which was earlier run by a person from Kuki commu-nity.

No one was hurt while seven persons were detained by Army and handed over to Bishnupur Police.

Later on they were released after ver-ification.

On Sunday, around 1:30 pm, seven persons namely, Ch Angou Singh (22), son of Ch Shamu Singh of Kakmayai; Rabichandra Singh (32), son of Y Binoy Singh of Chandra-khong; P Ranjan Singh (36), son of P Indrajit Singh of Shi-khong Bazar; S Naoba Singh (34), son of (late) S Yakima of Kakmayai; Soibam Gopen Singh (62), son of (late) S An-goutombi Singh of Shikhong Khumbi; Meishnam Somendro Singh (34), son of M Khanai Singh of Kakmayai and Mai-barn lbomcha Singh (36), son of M Sanatomba Singh of Uk-hongsang were apprehended by 33 Assam Rifles in connec-tion with arson at Haokhong village and handed over to Nongpok Sekmai police sta-tion.

Accordingly, a case was registered against them at the said police station for further investigation, he stated.

The security advisor fur-ther noted that 39,405 per-sons are presently staying in 235 relief camps including Imphal West (six camps-649 persons), Imphal East (40 camps-8,015 persons), Thou-bal (12 camps-911 persons), Bishnupur (54 camps-8,123 persons), Churachandpur (41 camps-11,455 persons), Tengnoupal (nine camps-1,463 persons), Kakching (two camp-192 persons, Jiribam (four camps-117 persons), Kangpokpi (57 camps-8,000 persons), Ukhrul (one camp-38 persons), Senapati (one camp-22 persons) and ICatn-jong (eight camps-420 per-sons) .
