Kuki Baptist Churches Centenary celebration embark on at T Waichong

"Forward with Christ" as its theme the Kuki Baptist Centenary celebration begin today at Tujang Waichong in Sadar Hills Senapati district.
Organized by Centenary Celebration Planning Committee under the initiative of Kuki Baptist Church the historic occasion opening ceremony has been charmed by Ngamthang Haokip, Minister, IFCD, Govt.of Manipur; Francis Ngajokpa, Minister, PR&RD; Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills and Sesei Zou, Chairman, ADC Chandel.
Participated by more than 275 churches, the momentous celebration timetable to end on Sunday has also been attended by Rev.Seikholet Singson, Founder of Kuki Baptist Church apart from various church leaders, chiefs, CSOs leaders, bureaucrats, intellectual, and well-wishers across the state.
by IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip, a traditional gong called 'Dahpi' in Thadou-Kuki dialect has been banged 100 times to marked the centenary celebration at the Monument site before the titanic Centenary monument approx.
15 feet tall has been unveiled by Rev.Dr.Hawlngam Haokip, Emeritus General Secretary, KBC.
Later, the KBC Centre Church Tujang Waichong New Building has been dedicated by Rev.Ngamjapao Haokip, General Secretary KBC at the Church complex.
Speaking after the presentation of traditional shawl to the dignitaries at the Men Forum Special Cultural programme at the Centenary Hall PR&RD Minister Francis Ngajokpa said that for me the remarkable celebration is a mixture of happiness and sorrow adding that the happiness part is to witnessed the exuberance of the people spiritually, physically and mentally in celebrating the centenary while the sorrow part is to witnessed the people gathered and celebrated the grandiose event with dusty hair.
The Minister continued that concerned department, contractors and engineers in the construction work of IT Road which passed through here has been instructed to completed the road construction before this momentous event so as to ensure that the people excitement is not depreciate due to bad condition of the road.
A visibly annoyed Minister also pointed that one contractor claimed to have completed the road construction but it is not while assuring the people that the concerned engineers will be pulled up to ensure the road construction work is completed at the earliest.
Speaking socially, the PR&RD Minister further said that as thought earlier the same mixture of happiness and sorrow prevailed in this hall stating that we are happy because all who are gathered in the hall are witnesses of this wonderful celebration who experience Christ for 100 years and at the same time we are sad and sorrow because all of here today will not be there to celebrated another centenary.
Therefore, this centenary is in fact exceptionally important added the Minister.
Carry forward the wonderful message to be told during the celebration by many wonderful speakers across the globe to your respective place and disseminate to the world the Minister urged before emphasizing various Christianity moral values.
Speaking to media persons Rev.Thangsat Kipgen, Chairman, Centenary Planning Committee pointed out that American Pioneer Missionary UM Fox declared on 12 December, 1914 that Church at Tujangwaichong is established after Songjapao Kipgen, the then chief of Tujangwaichong and other 11 believers joined in Baptism at Karong Inspection Bungalow on the bank of Barak River on that particular day.
Rev.Thangsat Kipgen continued that from that day on followers of Jesus Christ multiply as a result of the Gospel was carried out to villages initiate by these early dedicated believers in the midst of many Kuki chiefs who opposed on the words of Gospel.
Founded by Late Songjapao Kipgen, Tujangwaichong is an old and as well a model Kuki village of Sadar Hills, Senapati district, Manipur west, situated along Imphal-Tamei Road about 85 Km from the state Capital.
The Centenary Planning Committee Chairman further said that various noted speakers from different parts of Manipur, India, neighbouring country Myanmar and also from abroad took part in the momentous celebration to give amazing and living Gospel messages.
