10th anniversary of BBBP held across state

The 10th anniversary of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)' scheme, which focuses on empowering women and address gender discrimination, was held in different districts by the respective district administrations on Wednesday.
Awareness rallies and signature campaigns along with pledge taking ceremonies marked the day in all the districts.
The celebration for Bishnupur district was held at DC Bishnupur office at Mini Secretariat Complex and was jointly organised by the district administration and District ICDS Cell.
The event will continue till March 8, across the district.
The opening day of the programme was attended by DC Lourembam Bikram; ADC Y Opendro; Bishnupur ZEO N Chingkhei; District ICDS Cell programme officer H Mitabina; CMO L Raichandra and other district level officers (DLOs) .

During the ceremony, the DC administered pledge for BBBP initiative, urging all to act individually and collectively to eliminate gender-biased discrimination and sex selection that threatens the birth and survival of girls.
The pledge also emphasised the importance of ensuring girl child education and empowering girls to become equal empower ed citizens of the country.
Anganwadi workers and helpers also participated in the event.
In Churachandpur district, DC Dharun Kumar S, ADMs, ACJs, SDOs, and DLOs kicked off the celebration with a pledge to end gender discrimination against the girl child at the conference hall of the DC.
The event further continued under the aegis of ZEO, Churachandpur at Rengkai Higher Secondary School where students participated in pledge taking and signature campaign.
The DC, accompanied by ADC Thangboi Gangte and other DLOs also visited the District Hospital, and distributed gifts to the female new-borns to mark the occasion.
District administration, Thoubal and ICDS Cell jointly organised the celebration for Thoubal district at the counting hall of the DC Thoubal Complex.
The programme, attended by DC Ahanthem Subhash, SP Rakesh Balwal and ICDS Cell, Thoubal DPO N Parango as presidium members, was marked by flagging of an awareness rally, cultural show by girls and presentation of sanitary pads and study materials to several girls.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC expressed his concern of declining sex ratio of 1000:801 in Thoubal district as per 2011 census and the need for addressing it.
At the same time, Senapati additional deputy commissioner Rang David Kung administered the BBBP pledge to the participants.
Various slogans relating to BBBP such as 'She dream big, let her fly high', Baby girl are pride, education is their right', 'Every girl has a dream, allow her to fulfil it' and many more were displayed on placard during the awareness rally, which was also participated by Senapati ADC, AC S Plim Reikhenamai, SDOs, DLOs and its staffers and Anganwadi workers.
Earlier, the Senapati ADC along with SDOs and DLOs and other staff carried out a cleanliness drive at DC Office and its surrounding office campus in preparation of Union minister of state (MoS) visit to the district.
Kangpokpi DC Mahesh Chaudhari along with district programme officer and DLOs celebrated the day at the conference hall, DC Kangpokpi office.
The programme was attended by Champhai SDO Lamminlal Simte, Island SDO Len Singsit, Saitu-Gamphazol SDO Paotinsei Kipgen, official from CRPF other districts administration officer and DLOs.
Similarly, the district administration of Pherzawl, in collaboration with the Pherzawl district police, organised a cycle and bike rally to mark the occasion.
The rally was flagged off by SP T Lalboi Haokip.
In addition, the district women police conducted an awareness campaign focusing on women-centric provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The initiative sought to educate and empower women by providing insights into their legal rights within the Indian legal framework.
District administration, Jiribam also organised bike rallies to mark the celebration along with and 36th National Road Safety Month 2025.In the first programme, DC Krishna Kumar flagged off a bike rally in connection with 10th anniversary of BBBP from Jiri Bridge during which the he spoke on various benefits of the scheme and administrated the BBBP pledge to the participants.
The rally was participated by students from various schools, colleges and public.
Later, the DC flagged off a bike rally for 36th National Road Safety Month 2025 from Irawat statue, Babupara, NH 37, which was participated by students of school, colleges and DLOs.
District programme officer of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Cell, Kakching under the aegis of district administration, Kakching and social welfare department organised the celebration at the auditorium of Library and Information Centre, Kakching, at Kakching Phoushupat Leikai.
The programme was attended by DC Rohit Anand as chief guest and Kakching district programme officer/child development project officer Ningtham Parango as president, while Senior SP Thokchom Vikramjit, ZEO Yengkhom Achouba and CMO Dr Thaodem Rajen were the guests of honour.
The event was marked by a cycle rally flagged off by Kakching DC from ICDS Project Kakching office, which culminated at Library and Information Centre, Kakching; taking of BBBP pledge, cultural show by girls and presentation of gifts to girls.
Similarly, district administration, Chandel and ICDS Project, Chandel jointly organised the celebration at the multipurpose hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Chandel.
The event which saw an awareness programme on 'Gender Sensitisation of Girls and Boys' and 'Pre Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC and PNDT) Act', which was attended by DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar as chief guest in the presence of ADC/ADM Md Firoz Khan; Kheng-jbi SDO Md Gayasuddin; Chandel HQ SDC W Promilata Monsang; ICDS, Chakpikarong CDPO Yumnam Surjyajeevan and DLOs, among others.
During the function, S Sunila of Lambung/Phunchung village, mother of three successful women, shared her experience.

Khuringmul Anganwadi Centre and Hnatham Anganwadi Centre also performed cultural shows.
