Dr Ibocha bags translation award

Imphal, March 10 2014 :
Dr Soibam Ibocha's Manipuri translation of former President of India Dr A..P.JAbdul Kalam's autobiography Wings of Fire entitled "Khambi Meigi Mashashing" has been conferred the Translation Award -2013 in Manipuri Literature by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi today.
Professionally a serving Indian Police Officer holding the post of D I G Range II Manipur and a doctorate from Manipur University in policing, Dr Ibocha has also been awarded the President Police Medal for Meritorious Service 2014 on the occasion of Republic Day, 2014 .
Besides this award winning book, Dr Ibocha Singh is credited of translating two other books of Dr Kalam entitled "The Life Tree" and "Children Ask Kalam" into Manipuri as "Punshi Pamel" and "Angangshingna Kalamda Paohangjei" respectively.
Two other books one by Dr Kalam namely "Ignited Minds" and the other by Dr I.Mohendro Singh "Origin of Meiteis and Manipuri is not a Tibeton Burman Language" have also been translated respectively as "Ethil Piraba Pukning" and "Meiteishingi Hourakpham Amashung Manipuri Lonshi Tibeto Burman Longi Manung Chanba Lon Natte" which are ready for publication.
Dr Ibocha has also written two books namely "Community Policing : Principles, Practices and Perspectives in the Context of Manipur "and " The Game of Rugby" in English which were published by Akansha Publications, New Delhi.
He has also published a reference book on translation in Manipuri entitled "Handokpagi Neinarol".
He is also an approved lyricist of AIR Imphal and digital films including Liklai and Kaboklei.
The present award winning book was earlier awarded Akoijam Chaoton Rajkumari Muktasana Sahitya Award 2010 by the Sahitya Samiti Thoubal.
