Imphal, October 26 2009: Putting forward their four points demand to the chief minister, the Join Action Committee Against the Killing of Kh Santa Singh today given 48-hour time to fulfill the demands with a threaten to proceed on many agitations until and unless the demands are fulfilled.

Mention may be made that Kh Shanta of Irilbung Kalika was gunned down by the Imphal east police commandos on the night of October 24 in what said to be in encounter at Naharup Pangong under Porompat police station along with another person identified as Moirangthem Tenjing of Kongba Kshetri Leikai.

In the memorandum submitted to the chief minister today, the deceased Shanta was a simple and innocent person.

He failed to return home after he left home at about 4 pm on that day.

The dead body of Shanta came to know his death when visited RIMS morgue based on the report published in some local newspapers.

When, locals enquired into his death, it came to know that, he was killed by the Imphal east police commandos at Naharup Pangong on the night of October 24.The deceased person is an innocent civilian and survived by his wife and two sons.

He is the main breath earner of the family as meson.

"He has no connection with any underground outfit so far as our knowledge in concern," the JAC stated in the memorandum that placed the demands.

The demands of the JAC includes payment of compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the aggrieved family, registration of a case against the killing of Shanta and book the culprit(s) according to law.

It also demanded appointment of his wife or his son to any suitable government job and to conduct a judicial enquiry into the facts and circumstances regarding the killing of Kh Shanta.

The JAC will not take the dead body until and unless government fulfilled the demands for performing his last rites and will launch agitation with the help of the general public within 48-hour.On the other hand, the dead body Moirangthem Tenjing killed together with Shanta in the alleged encounter has been taken by the family after post mortem at RIMS morgue today.
