Monetary aid provided to displaced students

With an aim to alleviate the hardships faced by the displaced students taking refuge at relief camps and support them amid this challenging phase, Rs 3000 each has been credited to the accounts of displaced students staying at the relief camp of Ideal Girls' College, Akampat.
The monetary aid was provided to the displaced students under the aegis of Deputy Commissioner Imphal East and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Porompat acting upon the request of the parents/guardians of displaced students staying at this relief camp to help these students to meet the hostel expense and other academic needs.
The parents/ guardians expressed gratitude to DC Imphal East and SDO Porompat for the timely aid amid this tough phase of the conflict.
Addressing media persons during a press meet held at the relief camp today, Ningthoujam Samananda, Education Secretary of Committee on Protection of Meetei Victim Moreh for fulfilling the request of the aggrieved parents who have been rendered homeless and are left in a state of helplessness owing to the ethnic violence.
Highlighting that the displaced people especially the young students who are facing immense inconveniences and are in distress, he expressed belief that the relevant authorities will continue to support the displaced victims taking shelter in relief camps.
It may be noted that the displaced victims continue to be in a pitiable state ever since the outbreak of the ethnic conflict in May last year.
