Imphal, October 21 2015: Andro A/C MLA Th Shyamkumar opened the State Level Pineapple Fair cum Youth Festival at Thambalnu Market Poirou Pat Lamkhai on Wednesday.

Attending the fair cum festival organised by Development Organisation Andro Kendra as Chief Guest, Th Shyamkumar said since development of education is important, special attention has been given to all schools in Andro A/C.Azad High School has been upgraded to Higher Secondary level and efforts will be made to open Thambalnu College by 2018, said the MLA.

Shyamkumar said that Andro A/C has been producing plenty of pineapples and it can help in the growth of the State's economy.

Work culture should be promoted to increase products, he said.

State's economy will get a lot of benefit if Andro produced wine is exported outside Manipur by leveling "not for sale in Manipur," added Shyamkumar.

Attending the function as Guest of Honour, Deputy Director of Industries S Joykumar said that pineapple has been produced in large quantity at various parts of Andro A/C.These pineapples can be processed and exported outside Manipur.

"We have discussed with Andro A/C MLA to get a land for establishment of one Common Facilitation Centre at Andro A/C.Infrastructure will be developed apart from taking up processing of pineapples once the Centre is established in Andro A/C," said Joykumar.

Ayush Director Dr Loken attended the function as President while Horticulture and Soil Conservation District Officer Y Ibochou, social activists M Thoiba and Babita were the Guests of Honour. One pineapple processing unit was also opened on the day.

Many farmers from Andro A/C opened pineapple stalls and showcased their products during the festival which will continue for two days.
