Imphal, September 15 2015:
Coalition for Indigenous Rights Campaign (CIRC) is set to launch a campaign against the Merger Agreement from September 21 till October 15 .
CIRC spokesperson Ningthouja Lancha said that the people's convention held at GM Hall on September 21 admitted that the root cause of all issues in Manipur like protection of indigenous people, territorial integrity, human right violations and armed conflict is the Merger Agreement.
During a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here on Tuesday, Ningthouja Lancha said that CIRC has been observing 'Yaikai Khongjang' since September 8 last against the forceful merger of Manipur State with India.
Instead of analyzing each and every issue separately, the time has come to study the Merger Agreement which is the root cause of all issues in order to bring a long lasting solution, said Lancha.
He added that 'Yaikai Khongjang' has been launched with an aim to establish an ethnic council to get to the bottom of misunderstanding among the indigenous communities of the State and to end it.
Lancha further explained that most of the areas of valley districts have already been covered by the 'Yaikai Khongjang' which will continue till September 20 .
As part of the campaign, a mass protest will be held from September 21 till October 15 against the Merger Agreement.
Sit-in protests and protest rallies will also be organised during the nearly one-month long mass protest, besides seminar for students in educational institutes.
Lancha also said that the disunity among the indigenous communities of Manipur witnessed after the merger in the last 65 years will also be discussed among representatives and leaders of all communities to find out a solution.
