Kohima, April 25 2009:
IN YET another incident of looting businessman or contractor, unidentified armed miscreants looted an amount of Rs.32 lakhs from a local contractor from Midland area, Kohima at around 10 pm on Friday.
Sour c e s s a id tha t though formal complaint (FIR) has not been lodged, the victim himself informed Kohima police that armed miscreants forced into his vehicle while he was stuck in a traffic jam above Mezhr Higher Sec-ondary School, Midland and drove towards Taklu Ground, Lower Lerie colony.
There, the miscreants took away the vehicle key and also looted the said amount and fled away on foot towards the jungles.
He also informed that he and his driver were returning after drawing the amount from bank in a Bolero Invader when the incident took place.
The victim managed to reach home, collect the extra vehicle keys and went back to Taklu ground.
After returning from the spot of incident, he reportedly informed the police about the looting but has not lodged any FIR till the time of filing this report, because of which even the police are in the dark about identity of the victim and the whole incident, except for the verbal information.
Meanwhile, police on receiving the information launched intensive search operations of the whole adjoining areas and were on the job till late night but unable to make any breakthrough.
