Combined team arrest eight UG cadres

Imphal, October 15 2011: Stepping up its counter insurgency operations, security personnel have arrested in all eight underground activists from different parts of the State in the last four days.

A combined team of Thoubal Police Commandos and personnel of 33 Assam Rifles arrested one cadre of the proscribed PREPAK during a search operation at Arong Litan Makhong at around 7.30 am today.

Identifying the arrested cadre as Wahengbam Ibomcha alias Pathou alias Rabichandra Singh (27) s/o W Ibochouba Singh of Arong Litan Makhong Makha Leikai, a statement issued by SP Thoubal District K Jayanta Singh informed that one 9 mm pistol and two Chinese Grenades were recovered from the possession of the arrested cadre.

The SP further informed that another combined team of Thoubal District Police Commandos and personnel of 42 Assam Rifles conducted search operation in Pallel Bazar area and arrested one cadre of PULF (Azad) faction at around 5.30 pm yesterday.

The SP has identified the arrested PULF (Azad) faction cadre as Md Sikandar Khan alias Ibungo (30) s/o Md Abdul Wahed of Irong Thokchom Leikai.

On the other hand, a combined team of Imphal East District Police Commandos, personnel of 23 Assam Rifles and 28 Assam Rifles reportedly arrested on KCP (MC) cadre from Uchon Mayai Leikai in the morning o October 12 .

SP of Imphal East, in a statement, identified the arrested KCP (MC) cadre as Shamchetsabam Pradip alias Pandit Sinh (26) s/o Sh Angou Singh of Uchon Mayai Leikai.

One USA made 9 mm Pistol loaded with three live rounds of ammunition in the magazine was recovered from the possession of the arrested cadre, who, on verification, disclosed that he joined KCP (MC) in September 2011 through one S/S Ch Romen Singh and he was involved in extortion of money from general public, government officials, businessmen, etc as well as in transportation of arms and ammunition from one place to another.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by PRO AR, troops of 28 AR of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) launched operation in general area of Waithou of Imphal West district and apprehended one PREPAK cadre yesterday.

Identifying the arrested cadre as no.795130 S/S Sgt Wahidur Rahman alias Both Ithem (35) of Lilon Yangbi Leikai, the PRO said that one 7.65 mm round of ammunition was recovered from the possession of the arrested cadre who has been later on handed over to Lilong Police Station along with the recovered item.

In yet another incident, troops of 42 Assam Rifles arrested one PULF (MI Khan) cadre during an operation in general area of Bongyang of Chandel district yesterday.

The arrested cadre has been identified as Md Rafi Khan (28) s/o Md Attaullah of Yairipok Ningthounai.

One 9 mm pistol with magazine, three rounds of 9 mm pistol, one mobile phone and demand letters were recovered from the possession of the arrested cadre who has been subsequently handed over to Imphal West Police Station along with the recoveries.

Troops of 23 Assam Rifles also apprehended on PLA cadre during an operation launched in general area of Itham Mamang Leikai yesterday.

The apprehendee has been identified as No.2899 SS L/Cpl Naucha alias Raghumani (19) s/o Soraisham Ito Meitei of Itham Mamang Leikai and he has been handed over to Lamlai Police Station.

On the other hand, a combined troop of 23 Assam Rifles and 30 Assam Rifles launched a joint operation in general area of Pangei and Waiton and apprehended two PREPAK cadres today.

The PRO Assam Rifles has identified the two arrested PREPAK cadres as Aribam Bishwaroop Sharma (53) s/o late Yaima of Waiton Mayai Leikai, Imphal East and Nameirakpam Samu alias Maimu Singh (18) s/o N Yaima of Pangei Bazar, Imphal.
