2 oil pumps banned from service

Two Oil Pumps in Imphal East district which failed to provide the register of daily sale proceeds of fuels have been banned from continuing services to the public by Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF & PD), Moirangthem Okendro with immediate effect.
The two Oil Pumps which have been penalized are Kushum Oil Pump located at Konung Mamang and Porompat Service Station at Porompat.
The Minister has also directed the concerned authorities to take up legal actions against the two Oil Pumps.
Minister M Okendro today made a surprise visit to various oil pumps located in and around Imphal city following public complaints over closure of oil pumps in the wake of 'public blockade' imposed by KSDC over the demand for a separate homeland for the Kukis.
During the surprise visit, the Minister was accompanied by the Magistrates of Imphal East and Imphal West, the Director of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and other top officials of the department.
When the Ministerial team landed at Konung Mamang, Kushum Oil Pump was found closed.
On being enquired about its closure, the staffs of the oil pump informed the visiting team that all the stocks have been cleared today.
But on further enquiry, the visiting team found out that the oil pump had acquired 12 kilolitre of fuel from the IOC only the previous day.
So, the Minister demanded to have a look at the register of daily sale proceeds.
But the management and staff of the Oil Pump failed to provide the documents.
Taking serious note over the matter, the Minister ordered his officials to take up legal actions and banned the Oil Pump from continuing service with immediate effect.
Later, the Ministerial team paid another surprise inspection visit at Porompat Service Station in Porompat and the pump was also found closed.
There was not even a single staff who could inform the arrival of the team to their concerned owner or anybody who could take the responsibility.
After about half an hour, the authorities turned up but failed to provide the register of daily sale proceeds as demanded by the Minister.
Consequently, the Oil Pump was also made to be closed down by the Minister and all the relevant documents were confiscated.
The Ministerial team also visited Imphal Indane Service at Chingmeirong, NRL oil pump at Chumbreimakhong, PCTC at Khuyathong, Tidim Service Station at Tidim Road, Imo Filing Station at Yumnam Leikai and Krishnapremi Oil Pump at Moirangkhom.
Briefing media persons after the inspection visit, Minister M Okendro informed that Kushum Oil Pump was assigned with the responsibility of providing 24 hour fuel service to the public.
However, since various misdeeds have been found out today, the pump has been forced to shut down from today and the responsibility for providing 24-hour service to the people has been given to PCTC, Khuyathong.
The Tidim Service Station has also been fixed with the same responsibility from today for the welfare of the people.
The Minister also informed that filling of fuel in containers from oil pumps by the public has been prohibited for the time being.
