ILP STIR: Meet resolves to prohibit entry of outsiders

Endorsing the ongoing public movement for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State to save the indigenous people from the onslaught of unchecked entry of non-locals, a public meeting organized jointly by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS); Social Development Association; Brighter Club and Chaokhat Khongthang Apunba Lup, Awang Potsangbam Khulen at Awang Potsangbam Khulen Ibudhou Korou Shanglen today has resolved to prohibit entry of outsiders.
Furthermore, meeting resolved to implement the ILP system in the State without any further delay; prohibit entry of non-locals without proper identification documents in Awang Potsangbam Khulen and resist buying of property land by non-locals in the area.

Addressing the gathering as one of the resource persons, Nandalal Mangangcha, social worker, stated that politicians have shied away from their responsibilities when it comes to implementation of ILP system, which is the long pending demand of the people, mainly from fear of losing their vote banks.
Otherwise, there is no legitimate reason why the system should not be put in place in the State.
He observed that enforcement of ILP system will also help in curbing various crimes committed by non-locals apart from monitoring their presence in the State.
On the other hand, demanding implementation of ILP system in the State, a massive sit-in-protest was staged jointly by locals and women folks of Khongman Zone-III at Khongman Zone-III Community Hall today.
Several placards reading, 'Implement ILP system in the State', 'We would not let non-locals rule the State', 'Save indigenous people' etc were used during the protest demonstration which was held under the aegis of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) .
