Court sends AR man to judicial custody

Imphal, April 28 2023: The Special Court ND&PS Manipur on Friday remanded a Rifleman of Assam Rifles who was arrested along with 160 gram of heroin from Wahengbam Leikai on April 21 to judicial custody till May 12 .

According to reliable sources, Md Ziaul Haque is presently posted at Mantripukri.

Accused Md Ziaul Haque (37), s/o Late Md Kiyamuddin of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai was produced before the Court after the completion of police custody period with a prayer to send him to judicial custody by a team of City police.

He was arrested by the Special Commando unit of Khabeisoi.

The IO of the case through APP submitted that Md Ziaul Haque contacted one Mirza Khan (34), s/o Md Shahidur Khan of Lilong Konjin Leikai Thoubal District on April 21 at around 7.30 am and bought the heroin at Rs 54,000 .

After buying the heroin, the accused headed towards Imphal in a Maruti A Star car to sell the contraband, the IO told the Court.

As per the IO, Md Ziaul Haque sold three soap cases of heroin in March 2023 at the rate of Rs 13,000 per soap cases.

Saying that investigation is underway to arrest other accused and the kingpin of the case, the IO sought judicial custody of Md Ziaul Haque.

The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused to judicial custody till May 12 .
