JCILPS Women's Wing storms Raj Bhavan as ILP stir intensifies

Imphal, August 21 2014:
Intensifying the ongoing demand for enforcement of Inner Line Permit System in the State to save its indigenous people from unchecked influx of outsiders, around 50 women volunteers of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS), Women's Wing stormed the heavily guarded Raj Bhavan or the Governor's House and chanted slogans at around 12.30 pm today.
However, large number of security personnel deployed near the area stopped the protesters which were coming from two directions from entering the complex of the Raj Bhavan.
One group came marching from TG Higher Secondary School side while the other from Nityapat Chuthek direction.

There, a heated confrontation between the police personnel and protesters erupted.
The protesters shouted slogans such as 'Implement ILP system in the State at the earliest'; 'Save indigenous people'; 'Resign all the 60 MLAs if they fail to implement the system' etc.
After a while, the protesters were forced to return towards Nityapat Chuthek road near BJP Manipur Pradesh office where they tried to meet leaders of the party.
However, police personnel who were following them stopped the women protesters from doing so.
Later on, the protesters assembled at Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi Shanglen where they staged a sit-in-protest.
