Suspended Moreh OC remanded to judicial custody

Suspended OC of Moreh S, Letkhohao Vaiphei, was remanded to judicial custody till December 4 by the Court of Special Judge, ND&PS Manipur, today evening.
Letkhohao Vaiphei (53) s/o (L) Nguikhojang Vaiphei of Sapormeina, was produced before the Court following the completion of 5 days police remand for alleged involvement in smuggling drugs along the Imphal-Moreh route.
During the proceedings today, the IO of the case prayed for remanding Letkhohao to judicial custody till December 4 for further investigation of the case.
The IO also submitted that one of the main accused, Md Islauddin of Lilong Tairen Makhong, is still at large.
On the other hand, the defense counsel of the suspended OC, filed a remand objection along with a bail application.
After going through the case records, the Court remanded Letkhohao to judicial custody till December 4 and fixed December 11 for the hearing of the remand objection.
It may be mentioned that on November 12, Tengnoupal district police first arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (Moreh PS) T Paominlun Haokip of New Moreh Ward No 9, along with a huge quantity of Ketamine (a psychotropic substance) which were concealed at his residence.
As a follow up action, Luckson Kom (Constable driver) and Md Khalilup (Constable) of Moreh PS were arrested for transporting the drugs from Imphal to Moreh under the instruction of Letkhohao Vaiphei.
Letkhohao Vaiphei was arrested on November 15 and taken into police custody.
It may also be mentioned the other accused cops are still in police custody and they will be produced before the Court for further proceeding tomorrow.
