JNMDA pays tribute to late Gurus

A two-day Guru Puja organised by the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal began today at its auditorium hall.
The inaugural function was attended by Thongju AC MLA Th Biswajit Singh as chief guest, cultural enthusiast Manju Sharma Adhikari and former Commissioner, Art & Culture, Manipur, M Joy as guests of honour, and Padmashri K Sanathoiba as president.
Floral tributes were paid to the late Gurus who had served as teachers of the academy since its inception.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Biswajit lauded the JNMDA artistes for organising the Guru Puja as a mark of homage to their late Gurus.
Stating that learning is a never-ending process, he said students must earnestly seek knowledge from their Gurus and should not hesitate to get their doubts clarified.
He stressed the need for a close bond between Guru and disciple, adding that nothing is impossible to master if the Guru's teachings are pursued with dedication.
Respect for Gurus and sincerely following their guidance is what makes a good artist, he added.
Later, students of JNMDA presented various dance and musical performances.
