Imphal, December 02, 2014:
Joining the chorus of sports lovers of Manipur who have articulated their comments on the current ban on Boxer L Sarita through this Daily, eminent Boxing Coach L.Ibomcha has today said that the reaction of Sarita at Incheon Asian Games was out of fury over the injustice done to her in the ring.
While upholding the manner in which Sarita reacted to her discrimination and denouncing the treatment meted out to her, Dronacharya Awardee Ibomcha urged the International Body to lift the ban imposed on Sarita and allow her to continue her sporting career.
He also appealed to the concerned sports bodies to respond to the calls and comments made by the public, various associations and organizations in favour of Sarita.
Saying that World Women's Boxing Championship is one of the biggest boxing events, Coach Ibomcha commented that excluding Sarita from this international event is a great punishment.
She should be pardoned and allowed to join the event, after giving proper warning by the AIBA, Ibomcha added.
It is unfortunate that the Police Department of Manipur has not expressed anything on Sarita's issue, even though she is an employee of the department, lamented the Coach, while demanding the authority concerned to allow Laishram Sarita to participate in the 2016 Rio Olympic games by lifting the current ban.
