Workshops on AI governance and apprenticeship scheme held

Imphal, September 28 2026: Two separate capacity building workshops were held in Imphal today.

A day-long programme on "Artificial Intelligence Workshop for Governance" organised by the Department of Information Technology, Manipur was held at the Conference Hall, South Block, New Secretariat, Mantripukhri.

Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur attended as chief guest while Secretary (IT) Somorjit Salam presided.

Heads of various departments attended.

IT Director Gurumayum Robert said the workshop aims to improve governance using AI tools and train officials on practical application.

Experts from NIC Manipur, NIELIT and Deloitte held interactions on "AI enabled Governance in Manipur: Opportunities, Priorities and Way Forward" and identifying AI use cases for departments.

Meanwhile, a one-day workshop on Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), Northeast Region was organised by Directorate of Craftsmen Training under the aegis of Department of Skill, Labour, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Manipur at Hotel Imphal.

SLEE Secretary N Bandana, attended as chief guest, TCI Director Hanna Kamei and SLEE Additional Secretary N Gojendro as guests of honour and Joint Director of Craftsmen Training Longjam Subhaschandra presided.

Speaking on the occasion, Bandana said awareness on the scheme among educated unemployed youth is important.

Under the scheme, the Government provides Rs 3,000 as part of salary for apprenticeship in the private sector, while the remaining is borne by the industry, which also benefits entrepreneurs.
