Imphal, June 25 2015 : UKLF has today rubbished the allegation of interfering in the recently held Aimol Tribe Union Manipur (ATUM) election .

In the statement, David Haokip, general secretary, UKLF, said that the allegation made by ATUM was baseless.

While adding that the people of Aimol villages held meetings and unanimously elected their leader as they were not satisfied with the way ATUM was functioning under S Munthuireng, the statement clarified that UKLF was not involved in any of the meeting nor decision taken by the people of Aimol.

UKLF considered Aimol tribe as a distinct minority tribe and has always shown utmost love and care all these years.

For the welfare of the people, we have donated a Maruti Gypsy to ATUM few years ago.

We have given a community hall.

We have even returned a peace land called Natum Chao to them which they had originally sold it, the statement said.

"All these have been done to show that we have great affection and care for the Aimol people.

However, during the last few months, under the initiative and influence of some vested interests, a section of the Aimoi people trying to tarnish the good imago of the UKLF, added the statement.

UKLF said that the Aimol people should not forget that organisation is an armed organization striving towards the re-unification of the Kukis.

It urged the people of Aimol to respect the objective of UKLF and not to drag in the name of the organization in their petty issues.
