Over 1000 security personnel carry out joint special operation in forest areas of Langol

Imphal, April 15 2025:
More than 1000 security personnel carried out an intelligence based special operation targeting the forest areas of Langol, falling under the jurisdiction of Lamsang, Lamphel, and Sekmai Police Stations in Imphal West district.
The undertaking was a part of a sequence of coordinated joint operations carried out by the Central Reserve Force under M&N Sector, Imphal in collaboration with Manipur Police, Assam Rifles and BSF, said a statement issued by the PRO, M&N Sector, CRPF .
The operation included a coordinated deployment of multiple forces CRPF-03 teams from Sector/Range Imphal QAT, 04 teams from 34 Bn, 12 teams from 66/169/188/152 Bns, 02 teams of B/11 Bn, 06 teams from 69/86/ 109 Bns, 01 team from 143 Bn, 02 companies each from 66 Bn and 109 Bn, and 02 companies from the RAF, amounting to a total of 921 CRPF personnel.
Assam Rifles - 05 teams under 09 Sector (AR), BSF-04 teams and Manipur State Police teams led by Addl SP (Ops), with a combined strength of oyer 1,000 personnel, the operation was initiated based on actionable intelligence inputs from multiple agencies regarding the presence of arms, ammunition, and explosives hidden in the area, particularly following the imposition of President's Rule in Manipur.
The objective of this mission was to thoroughly sanitise the region and recover looted weapons dumped during the ethnic unrest that began in 2023 .
To ensure a meticulous search, the forest area was divided into 10 operational sectors, with clearly defined responsibilities for each team.
Specialist support teams such as BDDS (Bomb Disposal Squad), dog squad, medical units, surveillance teams equipped with UAVs and RAF units have been deployed at strategic places to manage any potential operational and law-and-order issues during the operation.
As per the press note, some of the key achievements of the operation include successful domination of the area, knowledge of possible hide-outs, mapping of the foot tracks connecting to different communities settlement, mapping of the possible escape routes by the miscreants etc .
It added that such types of operations will be conducted at all possible hide-outs of looted weapons both in valley and hill areas in the coming days.
