Condemnation pours to the attack on St Joseph School Sugnu

The Manipur Catholic Youth Organisation(MYCO) also vehemently condemn the arson attack on the St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Sugnu, Chandel District which took place on the evening of April 25 at around 9 pm .
"Such barbaric act of vandalism of an educational institution is against the cause of humanity which aims at peaceful education", a statement of the Organization said.
It added, "It is deeply and unfortunate event that the temple of learning, the harbinger of hope could be so brazenly reduced to ashes by some unscrupulous people in the society" .
The MYCO said that they will extend their full support and cooperation to the investigation of the crime until the culprit is brought to justice as per the Indian law.
The Senapati District Catholic Union (SDCU) expressed strong condemnation to the burning of the St Joseph Hr Secondary School (Catholic Missionary School) at Sugnu in Chandel District.
In a statement the SDCU said that the Union is shocked and dismayed by the irrational and violent attacked on the school on the April 25 by the demonic miscreants.
"Such beastly acts undermines humanity and deserves the severest condemnation", the statement said.
The Union urged the government Authorities to arrest and punishes the miscreants.
The Union also appealed the government to provide adequate security for the mission schools.
Meanwhile, IFCD Minister Letpao Haokip today visited St Joseph Hr Sec School at Sugnu.
Speaking to reporters Letpao Haokip condemned the burning of the school at the strongest term.
He assured to donate Rs.5 lakhs and half of his salary (Rs 50,000) for reconstruction of the class rooms destroyed in the arson by miscreant yesterday evening.
St Joseph Hr Secondary School was reportedly burned down by miscreants over disciplinary action taken against some students.
School source said that almost all its files and records of the past 55 years has been destroyed in the arson.
The School is the second oldest Catholic school in Manipur.
Father Jacob Chapao, the director of the Manipur Catholic Youth Organisation, has issued a condemnation letter, slamming the miscreants for the barbaric act.
"Such barbaric act of vandalism on an educational institution is against the cause of humanity," the priest said.
The school, which has some 1400 students in the current academic year, took disciplinary action on six students a week ago but were allowed to attend the class as usual.
One of them took to social media to malign the school and insult the teacher who was in the class.
The school then suspended the six for a month on April 22 .
One of the girls, whose father is alleged to be a militant leader operating in Sugnu area, mobilized the Kuki Student Union (KSO), a student outfit based in Chandel to pressure the school to revoke the ban.
The school refused to give in and this led to burning down the school, Father Chapo said, narrating the incident.
The Catholic school has been catering to the educational needs of the tribal people, especially Kukis and Anals, two ethnic groups in the state.
The fire has gutted the school's office building.
It may be mention that Kuki Students' Organisation Gunpi Block, Chakpikarong in a statement has called for shut down of the School from April 25 after the school did not relax the suspension of 6 students suspended for one month.
The decision for closing of the school was taken during a meeting of the KSO held on April 24, the statement stated.
