RIMS hospital's unmatched test result risks my life: Aberani

Imphal, August 14 2014 : The life of 30 year old woman L Aberani Devi has experienced medical negligence since an unmatched I-VP result was issued to her by Radiodiagnosis Department, RIMS hospital following which she went to AIIMS New Delhi for removal of a calculus from her right kidney.

However, she was not operated as the AIIMS doctors identified that there is no calculus both the kidneys.

While briefing media persons of her ordeal at Manipur Press Club, Lourembam Aberani Devi (30), d/o Dhananjoy Singh of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai expressed that she was operated at RIMS hospital in 2010 for removal of a calculus from the kidney.

However, she experienced difficulty at her abdomen and begun vomiting after a year following which she visited Dr AK Kaku Singh at his RIMS quarter for necessary treatment.

With the advice of Dr AK Kaku, she then went to Guwahati during January 2012 to contort another calculus with the help of 'ray' technology, Aberani told.

She further continued that a Stent was also imbedded for three months with the recommendation of the same Dr Kaku.

After some interval, she then begun experiencing health difficulty including rise of temperature in her body and repetitive vomit and went to RIMS on March 24 of this year for check up.

This time, the doctors informed that her kidney was not in good condition and advised her to admit on April 14 for necessary removal of her kidney and also to get result of I-VP test; and the I-VP test was conducted at RIMS Radiodiagnosis department.

After seeing the result, the RIMS doctor informed the patient party that there is big size calculus in the right kidney and advised to visit AIIMS or International hospital Guwahati for necessary operation, she added.

Accordingly, she visited AIIMS on May 9 and fixed the date for operation on June 31, 2014 .

On the operation day, the AIIMS doctors inside the operation theatre informed her that there is no calculus in her kidney after having scanned her kidney there.

The operation was thus abandoned, Aberani narrated.

Logically speaking, she further added, the Radiodiagnosis department of RIMS hospital issued I-VP result with serial number 4881 which indicates that there is a lump in the right kidney and the RIMS doctors operated last time is in her left kidney.

Conclusively, Aberani lamented that RIMS hospital's unmatched test result risked her life of undergoing a risk operation.

In addition to it, her poor family has lost a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh for going to Delhi for treatment at AIIMS.

During the press meet, Aberani's father Dhananjoy decried the negligence of RIMS hospital and also demanded to take action against the RIMS doctors.

He further added that the medical expenditure should be reimbursed by the RIMS authority.
