Blockade testifies failure in administration: BJP

The prolonged blockade of National Highways which has been choking all supplies to Manipur for the past 40 days is glaring proof of the administrative failure on the part of both the State and Central Governments, stated BJP national spokesperson and Manipur in-charge Prakash Javedkar.
Speaking to media persons today before leaving Imphal at the end of his two-day visit to the State, Prakash Javedkar asserted that the easy availability of all essential commodities in black markets when the same have become quite scarce in the open market only indicated that the State Government is promoting the black marketers.
The Government should have taken up special measures to ensure availability of essential commodities at appropriate prices.
The Government should provide special relief subsidy until the blockade is over.
A signature campaign would be launched soon on scarcity or non-availability of essential commodities and petroleum products in Manipur, stated the BJP spokesperson.
Stating that he discussed the major issues of Manipur on his arrival at Imphal yesterday with the BJP Manipur Pradesh office bearers, Prakash Javedkar who is also Rajya Sabha MP asserted that there was no 'natural administration' in Manipur.
The incumbent Government has failed in all fronts with the law and order situation going out of its control.
The Government of Manipur has also failed miserably to protect the lives of its citizens.
"I called on the Governor of Manipur yesterday and suggested imposition of President's Rule after abolishing the incumbent Ibobi-led Government", the BJP leader maintained.
When the level of corruption and graft has reached the pinnacle under the SPF Government, there is no rule of law in the State.
Under such circumstances, it would be most appropriate to hold elections after imposing President's Rule to seek the people's verdict, he asserted.
"It is said that IFC Minister N Biren's son Ajoy who was involved in the murder case of Irom Roger has been sent to Australia" .
If this is true, it is nothing but violation of court order.
It is also an attempt to destroy evidence related to the murder case.
CBI should book all the accused, Javedkar demanded.
Talking about the Lok Ayukta Bill, the BJP spokesperson stated that the Bill would be passed before the Assembly elections.
This Bill can punish many corrupted Ministers of Manipur, once it is passed.
With regard to the demand for repeal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from Manipur, Prakash Javedkar said that BJP would announce its official position on the issue before the Assembly elections.
The BJP has also been holding negotiation with some other political parties to forge a united opposition alliance, he added.
