Imphal, April 28 2023: Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur today organised a 1-day workshop on "Enabling indigenous modern technology development for commercialization towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat" at its auditorium in Mantripukhri.

The workshop was sponsored by the Department of IT, Government of Manipur, said a release issued by IIIT Manipur.

The inaugural programme was attended by Prof Krishnan Baskar, Director of the Institute and Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee, Director of IBSD, Takyelpat as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Pulok Kumar Mukherjee emphasised on bioresources available in Manipur.

He also highlighted the fusion of bioresources with modern technology like AI, IoT, etc.

Prof Krishnan Baskar stated that Manipur is a hot spot of bioresources and IIIT Manipur can give a thrust on technological development.

In the technical session, Dr Kishorjit Nongmeikapam, IIIT Manipur delivered a lecture on the topic, "Recent Advancements in AI and ML" while Prof K Sankaran of Anna University spoke on "Translation Research and Indigenous Technology Development and Commercialization- Overcoming the Challenges" and Prof S Muttan spoke on "Limited Manufacturing to Unlimited Opportunities in Medical Devices Development Conforming to Regulations" .

Haobam Joyremba, managing director of CubeTen Technologies gave a presentation on, "Challenges and opportunities using IOT in Traditional Methods of Business and Market" .

Dr Ramesh Mishra of IIIT Manipur also enlightened the gathering on the topic, "Drone Technology and Applications" .
