Stage set for public rally against Sadar Hills district

Reacting sharply against the inclusion of Zeliangrong inhabited areas under the proposed Sadar Hills District, the Committee Against the Creation of Sadar Hills District (CACSHD) is all set to organized a public rally on November 17, 2011 .
Addressing media persons at a press conference held at the office of the Zeliangrong Union, Paona bazaar,Titus Kamei, Secretary, CACSHD said that the rally which will be organized on November 17 will start from Ragailong Village in Imphal.
The rally which will be participated mainly by the Zeliangrong people will proceed towards Dingku road, Khongnang Ani Karak an finally settle at Ragailong village ground passing through North AOC and then crossing the Minuthong bridge.
Later on a public meeting will be held there where the issue on the inclusion of Zeliangrong inhabited areas under the proposed Sadar Hills District, which was included in the MOU signed between the state government and the SHDDC will be minutely discussed.
He further went on to say that the public rally is not being organized under the initiative of the United Naga Council, as was wrongly published in one of the local evening vernacular in Imphal.
The news published is highly condemned and it could even lead to further misunderstanding between the different communities settling in the state.
The various CSOs of the state including the UCM, AMUCO, Kuki Inpi Manipur and the UNC were formed under the provisions of article 19 of the Indian Constitution.
The CACSHD, likewise, is also formed according to the provisions of the Indian Constitution.
As such it gives the freedom of expression as well as the right to protest for our fundamental rights, he said.
As long as the local evening vernacular does not give a public apology, it will be banned.
All unwanted incidents arising out of it will be the sole responsibility of the evening daily, he further warned.
