Five UG cadres held with arms and explosives

Imphal, June 19 2011:
Five UGs, one PLA and four KCP of different groups including a woman, were nabbed by security forces and Manipur police commandos in separate counter insurgency operations in the last 48-hours, said an official source.
Two 9 mm pistols, five live ammunition and three hand grenades were recovered from the five arrested militants.
Two of the KCP cadres belonging to City Meetei were nabbed during raids conducted on their respective houses by a team of Imphal east police commandos yesterday around 5.30 pm.
Police said KCP-City Meetei activist Keisham Bindu Singh (37) son of Achou Singh was first apprehended from his home at Thamnapokpi Mayai Leikai by a team of Imphal East police commandos.
One 9 mm pistol with a magazine loaded with three live rounds was recovered from him, said a police source.
In a follow up action based on the disclosure made by Bindu, another activist of the same group identified as Okram Somorjit @ Herojit (24) son of Khamba, a resident of neighbouring Thamnapokpi Awang Leikai was arrested.
A 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds was seized from him, the police source said.
Earlier, police commandos of the same district nabbed two KCP-MC cadres including a woman identified as Gurumayum Prabha @ Chanu Devi (40) wife of Gobachandra of Ningthoukhong presently residing at Bamon Leikai from Old Thumbuthong area of Imphal East on Friday afternoon.
Three hand grenades were recovered from the woman who was nabbed with another activist of the same group, Md Abdul Kalam @ Firoz (28) son of Md Samat of Porompat Pangal Leirak.
Police charged them of involving in various cases of extortion of money from the general public and government officials.
A close aide of PLA's S/S Captain Jacky, commander of outfit's 252 battalion, identified as Longjam Sanahal @ Kubir Singh (29) son of L Biren Singh of Loitang Sandum Makha Leikai was nabbed from Checkon crossing yesterday around 9 pm.
He joined the PLA in 2001 and worked under army no.2343 after obtaining basic military training in Burma.
He was engaged in transportation of arms and ammunition from one place to another, police charged.
