BJP to take up issue of Merger Agreement in Parliament

Bharatya Janata party (BJP) has stated it would bring up the issue of the Merger Agreement signed between the Government of Manipur and the Indian Government in 1949 in the Parliament session which is commencing from April 24 .
Addressing media person at its Nityaipat Chuthek office here today, Prakash Javadekar, National Spokesperson of BJP, said that the party will check how far the statements mentioned in clause IV of the Merger Agreement signed between the government of Manipur and the Indian Government in 1949 have been put into action.
The clause IV of the Merger Agreement clearly stated that the Government of India will take up welfare schemes for the people of Manipur.
Among them includes giving jobs to the people of the state, taking up welfare schemes for the people and launching of various Central sponsored schemes.
He further stated that the National leaders of BJP have decided to put up the issue in the upcoming Parliament session and come hard on the Union government wherever it has failed to keep promises.
The party will also press the Union government to take up every possible developmental work in the state as stated and promised in the agreement.
Javadekar pointed out that the even though the party is unable to obtain a single seat in the recent elections to the 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly, yet it has gained more support from the people as compared to the last general elections.
"It was not a failure of BJP but a success for the party" he said and added that the Congress Party had used money power during the election.
He also state that BJP will remain as a watchdog and monitor the works taken up by the O Ibobi led government and accordingly take up necessary steps.
The party is also aware of the fact that the people of the state are facing many problems.
Prakash Javadekar was also accompanied by Tapir Gao, National General Secretary, BJP and P Chandrashekhar Rao, Zonal Organising Secretary, North East States, BJP.
A review meeting on the failure of BJP in the recently held elections was also held at its office today.
Though Prakash Javadekar left Imphal today, the other two National Leaders of BJP are still in Imphal and they will be meeting the BJP workers of the state.
Earlier during the day, Prakash Javadekar had met the leaders of NCP and MPP.
