Passengers of three vehicles including two ambassador cars and a Tata Sumo were looted by a gang of dacoits at Jujan Hills of Cachar district in Assam along NH-53 late evening yesterday, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
Jujan Hills is situated 5 kms from Jirighat Police Station.
One of the drivers identified as Islaudin Chaudhury (60) of Lalpani was shot on his right hand by the dacoits who were armed with a country made pistol, knives and sticks.
About Rs 50,000 have been reportedly looted from the passengers of the three ill-fated vehicles.
It may be mentioned here that the stretch of Jujan Hills along National Highway 53 which falls under Lakhipur Police Station is prone to looting.
The injured driver has been admitted to Silchar Medical College for treatment.
