Juvenile sent to observation home for rape

Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West, today, sent a juvenile to an observation home, apart from green-lighting an ossification test, for the alleged rape of a married woman on the morning of February 25 .
The juvenile was produced before the CJM Thoubal Court, along with a prayer for remanding him for 5 additional days in police custody for the necessary ossification test.
The IO narrated that the juvenile was arrested on February 27, after a complaint was lodged by the victim, a married woman, before Hiyanglam PS claiming that on February 25, at around 11.30 am, she was raped by the juvenile while she was sleeping in her own bedroom.
The complainant had claimed that she was held down by juvenile so that she could not scream and call out to her mother-in-law.
However, when she managed to escape and alert the people, the accused ran away.
The victim also alleged that upon searching the bedroom, a motor bike key belonging to the juvenile was found.
The IO mentioned that the juvenile was arrested two days after the incident (on Feb 27) and added that during interrogation, he admitted to the charges levelled against him.
As such, he was remanded in police custody till today, the IO said, praying for five more days police for conducting an ossification test.
On the other hand, the defense counsel of the accused, claimed that he was an underaged and prayed for the accused to be sent to an observation home.
After hearing both sides, the Court sent the accused into an observation home.
It also allowed the police prayer for conducting an ossification test.
