28 activists remanded

Altogether 28 women vendors cum acti-vists who were arrested by police in the course of the ongoing civil movement for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur were produced before the Court of CJM Imphal West and the Court remanded them to police custody for 15 days.
As they were brought out of the Court premises by a police team including wom-en police personnel, a group of women awaiting for them shouted slogans demanding implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
The 28 arrested activists joined the fellow activists and shouted the slogans in unison.
As the police team tried to put the 28 activists inside their vehicle, a brief stand-off ensued between the police team and the women activists Assistant Public Prosecutor Leimapokpam Rajen said that the Court gave permission to the 28 activists to apply for release on bail but they declined the offer.
They have been demanding unconditional release.
A case has been registered against them under IPC Sections 147, 149, 188 and 353 .
