Jessami Village Council clarifies

Imphal, September 21 2014:
The Jessami Village Council has clarified that the news item which was published on September 20 under the heading "Man lynched" where it stated that an eleven year old girl who was studying in a mission school at Jessami village was allegedly raped and murdered by one identified as Thoiba was misleading.
The Council stated that the accused was rounded up by Jessami youth and handed over to Meluri Women Society.
In a statement the Jessami Village Council clarified that there is no school known as mission school at the village.
Moreover the victim was not studying in the village, as reported.
The youth of Jessami were not involved in the incident.
The statement added that the incident took place at Meluri under Phek district of Nagaland and the villagers of Jessami came to know of the incident much later.
Condemning the incident, the Council criticised the person for giving unfounded information and stated it must not recur.
