Imphal, March 17:
Asserting that incident of mass abduction of displaced Kuki villagers from Ts Laijang grouping centre into the Myanmar boundary is indeed a fact, the Kuki Students' Organisation, Chandel district clarified that such a report was not intent upon maligning image of any organisation or individual.
Endorsing the press release issued jointly by the HTC, KWU/HR, Chiefs' Association and the student body itself on the matter, KSO claimed there are eyewitnesses to the incident.
Moreover, rather than wrongly interpreting the said press release it should be understood that the bodies had highlighted the incident in order to draw the attention of the Central Government to secure safe release of the captives and bring them back to safely to enable them settle peacefully in the grouping centre.
Informing that the captives were taken to Lallim (Namuta) on the Myanmar, KSO also made a fervent appeal to individuals and organisations concerned to respect right to live and maintain status quo for the sake of peace and tranquillity in the multiethnic society.
